What is the Role?

Our Data Analyst / Data Scientist will provide insight and analysis, delivering tangible business value, across the SSE Airtricity business. You’ll be working within a dynamic team of Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Data Engineers, all based in Dublin. In this role you will:

  • Liaise with key business stakeholders to gather and document key functional and non-functional requirements of identified analytics assets e.g. predictive models, dashboards, regulatory reports etc. This is to ensure that the assets built meet the business need/solve the business problem or compliance/regulatory requirements.
  • Develop new, maintain and enhance existing: Machine learning models, analyses, reports, dashboards and other insights delivered to the stakeholder directly or through the Business Intelligence End User interface. Testing and user acceptance will be an integral part of this process. These items will inform and support key business decisions and actions to deliver budget performance and incremental benefit.
  • Explore new and improved ways to ensure data accuracy, increase automation and reduce manual data processing within the analytics team as well as within the broader business.
  • Support knowledge transfer throughout the team through peer review of code, documenting process improvements, capturing/codifying knowledge e.g. knowledge of various systems across the business used by the analytics team to develop insights.
  • Participation in projects within the analytics team to broaden your data and analytical skills such as new data pipeline development, machine learning models (development, maintenance or enhancement) or data management.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Minimum of a BSc or above in quantitative field (Computer Science / Applied Science / Engineering / Maths) or equivalent. A MSc in Data Analytics would be a distinct advantage.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst / Data Scientist where you have demonstrated stakeholder engagement, data gathering, data compilation, data quality checking, automating manual tasks, machine learning model development and maintenance and report delivery within deadlines.
  • A high attention to detail regarding analyses / output checking.
  • Skills in most of or all the following: SQL, BI visualisation tools, Bash scripting, R, Python, CRISP-DM, Agile. Experience of Oracle databases would be an advantage. Experience of MS Azure, PowerBI, Databricks, Synapse would be a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of standard utility industry data entities (e.g. M/GPRN, Premise, Account/Contract, etc.) and their relationship(s) would be advantageous.
